12th Sept 2010	Para 10   Full army kit 10m run with mud and water.      The Paras’ 10 is a race offering anyone the opportunity to try their hand (and lungs and legs) at the 10 Miler Test.  The race was first hosted by The Parachute Regiment in the 90’s in Aldershot but when they moved from there, the event ceased.  In 2008 'Pegasus Company’ (aka P Company), The Parachute Regiment's own training & selection wing, revived the race.  All proceeds from the event are split equally between Help 4 Heroes and The Parachute Regiment Charities.  A great deal of support was provided by these 2 charities to paratroopers injured, and the families of those who sadly did not return in 2006 and 2008 during the Regiment’s last major deployments to Afghanistan.   The event is split into two distinct race categories which appeal to entirely different race audiences; (1)        Running Race: runners tackling a straight 10 mile run in trainers over the P Company 10 miler course. (2)        P Company & Team Challenge: Individuals & teams of 4 attempt to complete the same course carrying a 35 lb Bergen (rucksack) and wearing military-style boots in under 1hr 50mins, the pass time on P Company. 19th Sept 2010	The Ponton Plod   11.5m, 17m or 27m trail race. A high quality local run & walk over 3 distances, we like to support this event and I will be doing 17 miles so I get back in time for plentry of the free cakes and pudding before Dave in the 27 miler. National pride is at stake as we invite Survivors from England, Scotland and Wales to front up the challenge. Notts is where it all began back in 2008 and this is our largest event, with nearly 5000 expected to participate this year. Do your bit and answer the call for Olde England! Fri 29th Oct 2010	The Skeleton Run    If you fancy something spooky, why don't you break out the fake blood and join us at The Skeleton Run on Friday 29th October at 7.00pm. The Skeleton Run is a 5 mile night trail run set within The Beacon Hill Country Park, Woodhouse Eaves, LE12 8TA. All runners must wear or carry a head or handheld torch and as it's the Friday before Halloween fancy dress isn't compulsory but definitely encouraged! However we will only been including a good selection of them. We also have water obstacles and of course some mud. This will be tough as we have the regular hills,spills and ...thrills. Sat 12th Feb 2011	HellRunner Hell In The Middle The PUMA HellRunner™ is over multi-terrain and varying underfoot conditions. There will be everything from running tracks and trails to water-filled areas and plenty of steep hills. Expect to get cold and wet! It will be nature at its toughest. The course will be marked but do not expect to see mile or kilometre markers….that’s for those softy road running types. May 2011	Nordea Riga Marathon & Half The 20th Nordea Riga marathon will take place on May 23, 2010 If you have never been to Riga then marathon or half-marathon could be a good reason to visit one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic Sea coast. Marathon running has long history in Riga. First Riga marathon organized by Riga City Council took place 20 years ago – in 1991. Since 2007 Riga Marathon Course is officially measured according to AIMS standards. At this time the marathon gained international recognition and previous marathon on May 2009 gathered more than 8 600 runners from 35 countries.
